Camping de Kleine Wielen

 At De Kleine Wielen, it’s all about pure water fun in nature. Here you’ll find a lovely, shallow play pond specially designed for families. While you relax on your towel and read on the adjacent sandy beach, the kids can splash around safely in the shallow water. There’s even a fun water slide to keep things exciting. Since the pond is calm and easy to keep an eye on, you can let your little ones play freely with peace of mind. For the older adventurers, there is direct access to the larger inland lake, the Lytse Wielen. Here, you can head out onto the water together to swim or just float around in the sunshine.

There’s plenty to do at the park to keep the kids entertained all day long. During peak season, an enthusiastic entertainment team is on hand with sports games and creative activities. The large playground and the popular bouncy castle are the perfect spots for kids to hang out. Want to get active as a family? Hire a canoe or a SUP board, or try out a fun SUP bike to explore the water-rich nature reserve. After such an active day, you probably won’t feel like cooking. Luckily, you can easily grab a seat in the cozy restaurant on the campground or pick up a quick bite at the snack bar. For daily groceries and fresh rolls in the morning, just take a short walk to the supermarket on the grounds. That’s how you experience true holiday comfort.

The campground is located in the heart of the beautiful De Groene Ster nature reserve, which is a fantastic starting point for lovely hiking and biking trips. A must-visit for a family outing is right next to the campground: AquaZoo Friesland. My kids still talk about the seals we saw up close there. Want to spend a day soaking up some culture or doing some shopping? The historic city of Leeuwarden is just five kilometers away. Here you can stroll along the canals, relax on a terrace, or admire the famous leaning tower of Oldehove. The combination of peaceful nature and the lively city nearby makes this location ideal for the whole family.
