The capital of Corfu, Kerkira, is definitely a unique place with a rich history. Colourful tenement houses and elegant shutters fascinate tourists hungry for other cultures and architectures. Try sofrito, consisting of boiled rice and tender meat with garlic sauce. Pastisada is a cooked piece of beef with a strong tomato sauce and cinnamon. Bourdeto is a fish dish in a spicy tomato sauce and paprika. Dishes for hot days consists of vegetables prepared in different ways: Sorrel, spinach, dandelion leaves and many others.
