Hop on your bike or put on your walking shoes and explore the Venetian countryside. In the nearby Gaggio Nature Reserve, you can walk past woods, reed beds and tranquil stretches of water. Keep a close eye out along the way, as herons, kingfishers and flamingos, amongst others, live around the lagoon. Cyclists can, for example, follow the 34.8-kilometre-long Girasile route. This route runs through the regional nature park along the River Sile. For a day packed with culture, head to Venice. Stroll across St Mark’s Square, admire the Doge’s Palace and climb the spiral staircase of the Scala Contarini del Bovolo. At the top, a beautiful view over the city’s rooftops awaits. During a gondola ride, you’ll then glide past historic façades and tranquil canals. Closer to the campsite, in Altino, you can discover the Roman past. The archaeological museum displays mosaics, sculptures and other finds from the ancient city of Altinum. Be sure to visit Treviso too and stroll past canals, painted houses and charming arches to the lively Piazza dei Signori.
