Accommodation Problems
This was not a 5-star campsite. I'd give it 3 stars. We chose the "classic" mobile home as we were passing through the area for 4 nights. When you look at the park and the home we did not get good value for money. It was a dark, dingey and dirty looking mobile home with the deck sinking and the steps on an angle. It was tightly squashed in - unlike other campsites we have been to. I wanted to come home as it was such a disappointment! My wife upon arrival decided to wash all the kitchen utensils and we discovered that the hot water was brown. We reported this immediately and the staff were good at offering us another "classic" home which did not have the water problem. It would appear the original home had been empty for a while and the hot water tank kind of leaches copper into the water. Solution....drain the hot tank and refill. Anyway...we moved across to the other home....which had a MUCH bigger plot and lighter more modern decor. However, the microwave sounded like it was going to explode every time we used it, and the front door needed two people to close. One to bang the door and the other to lift the frame a bit. The shower tray had a long crack in it - thankfully we did not catch our toes in it. On the final night and mid way through cooking dinner there was a power cut. It appears to have impacted a selection of the mobile homes on the site. We raced to reception and they said they would send out an onsite engineer. 30 minutes later we went back to reception for an ETA and they were just closing up. They said the engineer was looking at it and if we had any further problems to call the night security guard!! Now I don't know about you but if I had mobile homes without power then a manager of some sort should have stayed onsite and even walked around the area to reassure customers. We were all in the dark (literally) and only by chance did we stumble across an engineer with this head in a cabinet. My wife spoke to him in French and he said about 10 minutes to fix. We had our power back in an hour and we cooked dinner late and ate outside in the dark. Aside from our accommodation the park looked run down in many places and definitely does not deserve a 5 star rating. 3 star would be more appropriate. You can tell the minute you drive through the entrance. We have been to some other 5-star sites and they exude luxury, quality and higher qualities of accommodation and maintenance. We met another couple with kids on the day that we left. She was nearly in tears and had also moved mobile home due to drainage problems. I cannot recommend this place at all. Oh and don't get me started about the 2 hours of very loud entertainment from 9pm to 11pm with an out of tune singer....
