Camping La Clé de Saône in Burgundy, located directly on the river of the same name, is a beautifully designed and predominantly green campground just a twenty-minute drive from the wine city of Mâcon and an hour from Lyon. It offers plenty of space and tranquillity, with an ecological approach wherever possible and an emphasis on authentic camping. This is an excellent place for nature and culture lovers, as well as families on the go.
What could be more refreshing than a morning dive? A morning dip in natural water! The Saône River runs right past the campground and offers a natural beach, perfect for sunbathing and relaxing. Rubber boats are allowed here, so you can easily take a short boat ride in the calm waters. Also nearby is Totem Wake Park, where you can try stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), water skiing and other fun water sports activities - a paradise for water lovers of all ages. At this camping vacation, water fun, relaxation and nature experiences at the waterfront are guaranteed.
The outdoor playground offers hours of fun for the little ones in the family while you enjoy a relaxing walk along the river or a classic game of bocce under the stars. For the more active, there is also a volleyball court and a table tennis table for socialising with other campers. The campground supermarket and grocery store are within walking distance and provide daily necessities, perfect for an easy and convenient vacation. And if you don't feel like cooking, the campground restaurant is ready to serve delicious food in a cosy environment. In the evening, when the quiet sounds of the river, birdsong and crickets fill the air, you can plan your adventures for the next day in peace. Hiring a bicycle is highly recommended; it is the ideal way to explore the picturesque surroundings and quaint villages.
This beautiful region, with Beaujolais nearby, is famous for its wines and culinary delights. Visit local wineries and enjoy a wine tasting, for example at the Cave de Lugny or the atmospheric mill in Châteaux. For families with children, there is also plenty to do: Take a day trip to the Touroparc zoo in Romanèche-Thorins, discover the exciting caves in Azé, or explore the historic castle in Chasselas. A trip to the neighbouring city of Mâcon offers culture and charm: photograph the medieval bridge in Saint Laurent, shop for local souvenirs and explore the Ursuline Museum for impressive archaeological finds from prehistoric times. For spectacular views of the surrounding area, a hike to the top of Roche de Solutré is a must, where you'll have panoramic views of the surrounding wine region from nearly 500 feet up.
