Swim, snorkel, and splash around: jump into the generously sized pool including the toddler area at this campsite in Pont-de-Vaux, where the River Saône provides more aquatic fun. Here, canoeing is popular, swimming is also practiced and daredevils put on their water skis. During this camping vacation, it is also great to relax around the pool, where sunbeds are set up in the shade or not. An evening stroll along the river is highly recommended. Or rent a bike.

Choose lunch and dinner from the various campground restaurants and walk to the bakery in the morning for fresh baguettes. There is an entertainment program for children under 12, including sports and games, ghost tours, crafts, disco swimming, and family game shows, plus a special children's breakfast. At the campground supermarket, practice your French while shopping. Rest assured: they speak English here, too.

Nature reserves full of special flora and fauna as well as castles are just around the corner, as are Ludilucky and Royal Kids amusement parks. If the children are a little older, take them to Parcours Aventure de la Bresse. Going on a city trip? Northward you will find shopping and mustard mecca Dijon, southward the historic center of Lyon and in Mâcon you can taste the renowned local wine. A smaller town like Tournus is also a sight to behold. What a fairytale region this is!
