Camping Hameau de l’Ourthe

Although the campsite itself does not have a pool, water fun is never far away. Nearby flows the Ourthe River, where children can paddle or build dams on warm days. Fancy a day of swimming with the whole family? Less than 10 minutes away is the municipal swimming pool of Houffalize, Aqua l'o. With a large pool with rapids, water slide, 2 whirlpools, children's pool, paddling pool and sauna, it is lovely to stay here, even in less beautiful weather.

The strength of this campsite is in its simplicity. You will stay here on a small-scale site in the middle of the forest, where children can play safely, and you will really get away from the busy life at home. There is no animation team, but that is more than made up for by the space, nature and freedom that children experience here.

The common room in the main building is attractively furnished, with a fireplace, a kitchenette and cosy sitting areas – ideal if the weather turns. You can also book group activities here if you are travelling with several families. Groceries are easily done in the village of Nadrin or in Houffalize, a few kilometres away.

The location of this campsite is a hit with families who love nature and adventure. You can hike right from your front door here: on forest trails, along streams and overlooking the hills. Nearby is the Nisramont dam, where you can take a nice walk around the reservoir – put on sturdy shoes, take a picnic and go.

A hit with kids is Houtopia, a playful experience centre in Houffalize. Inside, they learn all about the senses while climbing and feeling, outside, they can have fun in the playground with large nets and slides.

A day in La Roche-en-Ardenne is also worthwhile. Here you will wander through old streets, visit the castle and finish with an ice cream by the river.
